Manock was an outstanding male of excellent type. He had a great head, strong bones and correct tail.
He moved well and he was a hard worker in our team. His size and strength made him the perfect wheel
dog, but since he was very focused and reliable we often use him in lead as well.
Manock was good with other dogs and loved children to the extent that he barely allowed the other
dogs to come close to babies.
When Manock was 2 years old, he started growling. It was always when we or someone else was
approaching him. At first we thought it was him not respecting our leadership... but his body language
didn't support that theory, and we got more and more confused about it all. This went on for 2 years,
and nothing we did seemed to help, but we refused to give up and read books and talked to anyone who
would listen. Some people would talk about his "bad temperament", and others would probably have had
him put to sleep, but we knew our dog, and he had never shown agression. He was growling but his body
language was not threathening. Then one day someone told me about a dog kiropractor, and I thought:
"that's it!". And it was! Already after one treatment Manock was a new and ofcourse much happier dog.
It turned out that his neck, shoulders, back and hips needed adjusting. His shoulders were at least 6
cm. off and he had been in pain and possibly a permanent headacke... I cryied with shame and relief...
I felt so bad, that he had been in pain for so long, and that we didn't manage to help him much sooner.
Because his body had "been out of order" for so long, he had to recieve treatments on a regular basis
for the rest of his life. He was never more excited than when we would visit Marianna Bendixen, our dog
kiropractor. These were the only times he would jump up at me.... I miss him so so much...
Manock has been the one who taught us the most. He made us understand about dogs and how they
communicate. He made us want to learn more and read all the books. In 2008 I even went to England
to learn from Jan Fennell, "The Dog Listener".
