Nugga was our first malamute. She is the one that got us hooked on this extraordinary breed.
Her love for children was remarkable! She would plunge into the middle af a group of
children and ask for bellyrubs whenever we met some on our walks.
Nugga had strong bones and excellent movements. Her coat was a bit longer and softer than prefered.
In 2001 she was among the first danish malamutes to pass the swedish sleddog test.
We always considered Nugga to be strong and healthy, but in May 2001 we discovered that
she had hypothyroidism. We desided to spay her, because this condition can be hereditary.
She is one of the very few malamutes that we know of, who could walk off leash and interact
with all dogs we met without any aggression at all. Her personallity was fare from submissive,
but she carried herself gracefully like a queen and saw no need for fighting.
Unfortunately she didn't choose the same approach when Kiwa moved in with us. It was not a good
situation for any of our dogs and we chose to let Nugga live with the family of one of her pups.
This was not an easy dissision and there were lots of crying involved, but we immidiately felt the
stresslevel go down among the remaining dogs, and though we missed Nugga terribly we always
knew, that we did right by her. She lived happily with her son, Tako, until her death.
